TELEHOUSE FRANKFURT Data Center becomes an additional location for the DE-CIX Apollon Platform
December 9, 2013Telehouse Deutschland GmbH, the German branch of the global colocation provider, is now an infrastructure partner of the DE-CIX Apollon platform. With DE-CIX Apollon, the DE-CIX Management GmbH is currently creating the world’s largest interconnection platform. The platform will offer the entire spectrum of Ethernet-based interconnection services and is designed to accommodate data transmission of up to 100 Gigabit Ethernet per second. DE-CIX Apollon encompasses ten switches in total; these are located within various data centres in Frankfurt. The Telehouse Frankfurt data centre site will accommodate one of those DE-CIX Apollon node switches.
Established in 1995, DE-CIX in Frankfurt am Main today is the Internet exchange with the highest data throughput worldwide. Almost 600 Internet service providers from nearly 60 countries exchange a majority of their Internet traffic through DE-CIX in Frankfurt. DE-CIX Management GmbH provides premium interconnection services to its customers and expects its data centre partners for the DE-CIX Apollon platform to meet the same high requirements. These include the highest level of reliability and access security, as well as the employees’ expertise and variety of network operators on site.
“By selecting Telehouse, we now expand our DE-CIX Apollon platform with a relevant site in our domestic market. As a Frankfurt-based service provider, Telehouse has proven its concept. Within the scope of DE-CIX’s international expansion, we can also imagine further collaboration with Telehouse in North America,” comments Harald Summa, Chief Executive Officer of DE-CIX Management GmbH.
Telehouse is a key network hub for a number of major Internet exchanges around the world. In addition to DE-CIX, Telehouse is the primary home for the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and the France IX in Paris. The new partnership with DE-CIX for Apollon further reinforces Telehouse’s position as the heart of Europe’s Internet infrastructure.
“We are delighted that we can now offer in our data centres direct access for our customers to DE-CIX Apollon, a connection that also enables peering with other Internet service providers. It is a special honor to belong to the DE-CIX infrastructure partners, a distinction that we value highly.”
