Telehouse opens the final phase of London West
January 28, 2014Telehouse has opened the final phase at its flagship London data center Telehouse West in East India Dock. The company said its West facility’s final phase – a floor with 1,000 sq m of available colocation space – can offer a power capacity between 2 to 10 kW.
The data center is neighboured by existing sites North and East. Telehouse said it pre-sold over 1,300 sq m at the facility to a number of international telecommunication and media companies when the facility first opened in 2010.
The company said it has taken a phased approach to selling the five floors of colocation space and on average has opened a floor every 18 months. The success of the project led Telehouse to bring future plans forward by three years.
Telehouse’s parent company KDDI Corporation said it has expanded its footprint in Europe and local services since the 5,000 sq m facility opened. Telehouse’s sales and marketing director Michelle Reid said the West project has been the company’s most interesting project to date and shows a dramatic change in its customer profile compared to when the company started 24 years ago.
“We look forward excitedly to announce our future expansion plans which will see us consolidate our leading position in Docklands, London and Europe,” Reid said.
