Sumitomo Trust & Banking is a New Jersey State chartered trust and banking company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Their mission is to provide world-class global custody services and securities lending services for mainly Japanese institutional investors, their overseas branches and affiliates, and to the financial institutions responsible for their investments. TELEHOUSE has been a Data Center Partner for Sumitomo in New York for over 10 years. Digital Edge is a Partner of TELEHOUSE and supports Sumitomo domestically for managed IT services.
The Challenge
With the development of a new system, Sumitomo Trust & Banking required an organization separate from the multiple programming groups employed. This organization would take new changes and roll them out from development servers to QA servers and then to production. Also, the ability to control changes through the System Change Control System and to roll back changes in case of an error was desired. Additionally, Sumitomo required a 24/7 monitoring service with the ability to react on production issues with software, hardware, or custom applications. Finally, the capability to monitor and support Sumitomo’s End of Day processing, which includes multi-step activities involving three different systems and organizations, was needed.

The Solution
To address the needs of Sumitomo Trust & Banking, Digital Edge’s Change Control system was implemented in conjunction with SCC (System Change Control) forms. These forms define change requests, roll out and roll back processes, scheduling, approval processes, and other critical information and processes. This allows Digital Edge to be able to roll out and back in a timely manner. In addition, Advanced Knight Watch monitoring allows all systems to be monitored and a 20 minute response time if any situation arises. Knight Watch also allows Digital Edge to monitor third party processes.
