Telehouse Launches New Tokyo Data Center
March 8, 2016Our parent company, KDDI announced the launch of our newest Telehouse Data Center, Tokyo Tama 3.
The new Data Center is located on the existing Tama campus, 18 miles from downtown Tokyo. It offers 1,300 racks of tenancy space with up to 42kVA of power supply per rack, the highest for any Data Center in Japan. The Tama campus now has a total capacity of 4,300 racks with 40MW.
High density colocation services enable the hosting of heavy load IT infrastructure, private cloud and highly integrated content services.
The new Tokyo facility is captured in the images below.
A bird’s-eye view of the Telehouse Tokyo Tama Campus’s largest building:
A hybrid quake-proof structure is resistant to long-period ground motion. Notice the building is slightly floating. The Data Center is located 30 kilometers away from the metropolitan area, which has a lower risk of earthquakes and is less prone to other disasters, including floods and tsunami.
For customers requiring larger spaces, KDDI offers colocation services via private collocation suites as a standard provision. To meet our customers’ specific needs, KDDI also flexibly supports customization of IT infrastructure including power system specifications, communication cable routing and other custom requirements. Branded server rooms: hot aisles in red and cold aisles in Telehouse blue. Servers intake cold air from the front and eject hot air from the back.
There are eighteen 81MVA generators designed for emergencies at the 3 Data Centers in Tama campus.
Powerful batteries for the UPS system.
The Data Center is equipped with conference rooms a rest area, customer operation rooms, nap room and shower room, requested by many of our customers. Each floor has a staging room, making for an environment that allows for a smooth launch even after the initial installation.
